Indiana Sports Corp Selected as Host for Upcoming NCAA Championship Events

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis has been selected to host championships in swimming and diving, rowing and men’s basketball as part of an announcement made by the NCAA today (April 18). The NCAA announced the final host sites for 84 of the 90 championships for the 2017-2018 through 2021-2022 seasons after receiving more than 3,000 bid applications for future NCAA championship hosting opportunities. Cities throughout the state of Indiana were selected to host 41 of these championships. These championships join an impressive schedule of NCAA events that had previously been awarded to central Indiana and Indiana Sports Corp.

The specific years and championships include:
  • 2019 Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, IU Natatorium              
  • Host: UIndy 
  • 2019 Division I, II and III Women’s Rowing Championships, Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park
  • Host: Indiana University
  • 2020 Division I Men’s Basketball Regional, Lucas Oil Stadium
  • Hosts: Horizon League, IUPUI
  • 2020 Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship, IU Natatorium
  • Hosts: IUPUI

The Indianapolis community and local facilities are accustomed to hosting NCAA championships. In recent years, Indiana Sports Corp has hosted the following events:
  • 2014 Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship
  • 2014 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship – Midwest Regional
  • 2014 Division I, II, and III Women’s Rowing Championships
  • 2015 Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships
  • 2015 Men’s Final Four
  • 2016 Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships
  • 2016 Women’s Final Four
  • 2017 Division I Men’s Basketball Championship – First and Second Rounds
  • 2017 Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships
  • 2017 Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships
  • 2017 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships
Indianapolis had already been selected to host a number of NCAA Championships in the near future. The NCAA Championships previously awarded to Indiana Sports Corp include:

  • 2018 Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships
  • 2018 NCAA Convention
  • 2021 Men’s Final Four
  • 2022 NCAA Convention

  • 2021 Division I Men’s Lacrosse Quarterfinal, South Bend, Ind.

  • 2022 Division III Men’s Basketball Championship, Fort Wayne, Ind.
    • Hosts: Manchester and Visit Fort Wayne
  • 2022 Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight, Evansville, Ind.
    • Hosts: Southern Indiana, Evansville Sports Corporation 
  • 2022 National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships, South Bend, Ind.
    • Host: Notre Dame
  • 2022 Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Prelims, Bloomington, Ind.
    • Hosts: Indiana University

Six championships were not included in this bid cycle. Division I baseball, Division I softball, Division I men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, which is tallied as two separate championships, and the Football Championship Subdivision game were omitted due to existing contracts. The sixth championship, Division III women’s ice hockey, does not select predetermined sites. Additionally, certain championships in other sports for future years were not awarded at this time.
