500 Festival, Indiana Sports Corp to Host USA Track & Field Half Marathon Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 500 Festival and Indiana Sports Corp will play host to the 2022 USA Track & Field Half Marathon Championships on May 7, 2022 in conjunction with the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. The race marks the first time the event will be held in Indianapolis.

“We are thrilled to bring our USATF Half Marathon Championships to such an incredible weekend of racing in Indianapolis,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel.

The USATF Half Marathon Championships are a key stop on the USATF Running Circuit – a series of road races from one mile to the marathon, which provides American distance runners competitive opportunities and upwards of $500,000 in total prize money. With a mission to showcase, support, and promote U.S. runners since its inception in 1995, the USATF Running Circuit consistently attracts the country’s finest and fastest on the road.

After the start of the Half Marathon Championships, more than 20,000 participants will take to the streets of downtown Indianapolis as part of The Greatest Spectacle in Running, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K, on May 7. The fast, flat course starts and finishes in the heart of downtown and features a 2.5-mile lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indianapolis 500. Named America’s Best Half Marathon of the Decade by the BibRave 100 and One of America’s Most Iconic Races by Runner's World, each year the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon attracts participants from all 50 states and 15+ countries around the world.

Awards & Prize Money

USATF Championship medals, OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon medals, and USATF Running Circuit points will be awarded to the top 10 men’s and women’s finishers. Prize money will be as follows for each of the genders:
• 1st place: $7,000
• 2nd place: $3,500
• 3rd place: $2,500
• 4th place: $1,800
• 5th place: $1,200
• 6th place: $1,000
• 7th place: $900
• 8th place: $800
• 9th place: $700
• 10th place: $600

The total prize purse per gender will be $20,000.
