INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Sports Corp, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and Russ Potts Productions, Inc. are proud to announce Sports Tech HQ as the presenting sponsor of the 2022 and 2023 Indy Classic. The inaugural event will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 17 and feature the men’s basketball programs of Ball State versus Illinois State at 3:30 PM on ESPN+ followed by Purdue versus Davidson at 6:15 PM on the Big Ten Network.

Sports Tech HQ, launched earlier this year, is a new nonprofit organization in Indiana through a partnership with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The purpose of Sports Tech HQ is to build a thriving sports tech ecosystem that facilitates innovation and investment in Indiana.

“Along with community partners, Sports Tech HQ will play a major role in building and cultivating a dynamic sports tech ecosystem in Indiana,” said Jeffrey Hintz, Executive Director of Sports Tech HQ. “We look forward to showcasing how Indiana is such a great place to conduct business for entrepreneurs and sports tech companies. We are ecstatic to be able to partner with the Indy Classic to help carry our mission forward.”

This past July, Sports Tech HQ made one of its first investments in One-Zero, the sports and entertainment summit, that relaunched in Indianapolis at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Headquarters. The event brought together some of the leading minds in the sports and sports tech business and included the fourth annual Techstars Sports Accelerator Powered by Indy 2022 Demo Day featuring 13 of the top early stage sports tech companies in the world.

“Indianapolis has long been synonymous with world-class basketball, but it has quickly risen as the tech hub of the Midwest, as well,” said Rick Fuson, Chief Executive Officer of Pacers Sports & Entertainment and past-Chairman of the Indiana Sports Corp. “This announcement accentuates what our global city has become, and we are grateful to Sports Tech HQ for their commitment.”

Indiana Sports Corp, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and Russ Potts Productions, Inc. have partnered to host the Indy Classic, an annual basketball showcase, that focuses on bringing the top collegiate basketball teams to Indianapolis to compete in a doubleheader. The Indy Classic serves as an annual fundraiser for Indiana Sports Corp’s non-profit mission.
